OP4P Finalist in Awards Australia

29th November, 2025

OP4P was nominated by local Doctor and Orange City Councillor Dr Steve Peterson for the Awards Australia NSW/ACT Health and WellBeing Award. The Awards were held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney on 29th November.

It was a wonderful night with OP4P represented by Jenny Hazelton, Marg West, Gail Pringle and Sue Moffatt. It was a great honour to be selected as a finalist, and this is what the announcer said about our group:

‘Orange Push For Palliative of Orange continues to break barriers by providing access to dignified end-of-life care. Founded in 2015, Orange Push for Palliative (OP4P) is a dedicated volunteer group. When the new Orange Hospital opened without any dedicated palliative care beds, OP4P mobilized the community, hosting forums, collecting 10,000 petition signatures, and engaging local, state, and federal leaders. Their advocacy and fundraising efforts have resulted in the creation of five permanent palliative care beds, a family-friendly lounge, and home-like amenities that bring comfort to patients and families. Their OP4P’s persistence has influenced government policy, secured over $250,000 in donations, and earned recognition through multiple community awards. …Congratulations Orange Push for Palliative!”

Being presented with the Finalist Certificate by Geoff Griffin, Director, Awards Australia
