Freya Blackwood - the children’s corner

We are so delighted that Freya Blackwood - international children’s book author and illustrator, is onboard with the Children’s Corner in the new palliative care space.

OP4P has been very keen to create areas in the new palliative care space for young children. In these sad times, some patients requiring palliative & end of life care have young families as well. The need for families to have space and very important time together drove our determination to get cuddle beds for each room. Families can have that time and intimacy together.

Similarly children need spaces where they can play, draw, and be distracted. The Childrens Corner & the Courtyard will provide these spaces.

When we approached Freya to be involved she was immediately on board! She had already done some beautiful artwork for the Childrens Ward when the new Hospital was built. She was bubbling with ideas and the result is OUTSTANDING! We are so excited.

Cancer Care Western Inc was very excited too and have donated extra funds for Freya’s artwork.
