Cancer Care Western is onboard!

We are delighted to announce that Cancer Care Western Inc has made a significant donation to our fundraising for enhanced palliative care at Orange Hospital. Over $20,000 has been donated specifically for art work at the new space.

Cancer Care Western’s main mission is to advocate & support accessible radiotherapy and cancer treatment options for the people of Central and Western New South Wales. They provide affordable self-care accommodation for those having treatment at Orange Health Service.

They provided substantial seed funding and support for a Clinical Trials Unit at Orange Health Service which was formally established in 2016. Since then, Medical Oncologist Doctor Rob Zielinski and his team have expanded the trials. The Clinical Trials Unit  has had many successes and won the 2017 NSW Premier’s Award for Outstanding Cancer Research and the 2017 Australasian Gastro Intestinal Trials Group Outstanding Site Award.

OP4P has been very fortunate to have access to famous local photographer, the late Alf Manciagli’s photographic images. Alf was very involved in the planning of the artwork for palliative care last year.

Cancer Care Western has donated funds for over 20 images of local Orange scenes.

They are also supporting the development of the Childrens Corner in the unit by sponsoring celebrated local artist Freya Blackwood’s work.
